YOGA CLASS STYLES

Flow 101

This is the perfect class if you are new to yoga or curious about a flow style class. Rachel has 8+ years of teaching yoga, with a specialty in making the practice accessible to beginners. Her knowledge, fun, and safe instruction will leave you feeling strong, confident, and relaxed. The class will begin with a grounding warmup, followed by a focus on a different flow sequence for each class, whether that is the traditional Sun Salutation, or something fun and fresh. We will move through the flow sequence first at a slower pace, learning each of the poses and transitions that make up the flow, and their different modifications/adjustments. Then, the class will continue with the same flow, and Rachel might add in some other poses, depending on how the class is receiving the first flow. Each class will end with a long and deep resting pose, Savasana.

The goal of this class is to encourage people to move with conscious effort and awareness of the poses within their own body during yoga class, instead of just flinging themselves around to "keep up with the others in the class."


Freedom Flow

A flowing sequence with movement between poses often times linked with a common sequence - for example, a typical vinyasa (plank, Chatturanga, updog, and downdog) - but not ALWAYS a typical vinyasa! Get ready to change it up, shake it up, and bring a challenge to your “typical flow class.” What would it feel like if we were truly in our bodies in this moment? Come explore this and more - there is no set order or sequence to the postures, and no two classes are the same!


Vinyasa Flow 

A flowing sequence with movement between poses often times linked with a Vinyasa - Plank, Chatturanga, Updog and Downdog. Class often includes a variation of Sun Salutations, along with standing poses, pranayama, balancing postures, and floor work. With no set order or sequence to the postures, no two classes are the same! 


Foundations

Slow it down. Break it down. Tune it in.  This class is all about breaking down the poses, getting the alignment right, feeling the pose in the body, breathing into the pose, expanding your prana (life force), and feeling the flow. It is perfect for beginners, or those students wanting to delve deeper into their practice by learning the proper (aka non-harmful-to-the-body) positioning of each posture.


Rockin' Flow

A hot and sweaty, powerful, awesome, music filled class awaits you! Classes are typically quicker paced, full of sass, and fun - it's ok to sing along. Based on Vinyasa Flow, this class has loud music and encourages students to truly let go into the moment, providing space for deeper exploration into their yoga practice. Class always ends with a deep, long Savasana, allowing students to soak it all in. And on Thursdays, the playlist has a theme! Check my instagram for this month's themes.


Restorative Yoga * Flow & restore

this is a time for your body and mind to rest and reset. many of us spend much of our day giving energy - to our work, our projects, our family, our friends - even in a typical vinyasa class we are giving out energy. this isn't a bad thing... just like anything else, balance is important! restorative yoga is a super gentle practice where you place your body in different positions using yoga props, and then close your eyes and relax with a guided meditation of release for the body.


Prenatal yoga

WITH A FOCUS ON FLUIDITY AND MOVEMENT, PREGNANT people ARE ENCOURAGED TO LISTEN TO THEIR BODIES, FEELING THAT THEY KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR BABY. THERE ARE MANY POWERFUL POSES IN THE SEQUENCE OF CLASS, ALONG WITH PERIODS OF REST, ALL UTILIZED BY THE BREATH AND PRACTICED WITH THE INTENTION OF ALLEVIATING COMMON PREGNANCY DISCOMFORTS, AND PREPARING FOR LABOR. WE ALSO INCREASE PELVIC FLOOR AWARENESS, AND PRACTICE SOME SUPER YUMMY YOGA NIDRA (DEEP RELAXATION) - THINK SAVASANA TO THE TENTH POWER! THE PRENATAL CLASS IS A SUPER SAFE PLACE FOR pregnant people TO COME AND PRACTICE, WITHOUT THE INFLUENCE OF THE OUTSIDE WORLD. A STRONG COMMUNITY IS CREATED with others present THROUGH A BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF THEMSELVES, ALONG WITH WHAT STAGE THEY ARE IN PREGNANCY, AND ANY OTHER INFORMATION THEY'D LIKE TO SHARE (INCLUDING ACHES/PAINS, EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL, CHANGES, ETC).
